Why Face Yoga is My Secret to Longevity at 56
Over 25 years of teaching yoga has taught me that true wellbeing comes from caring for the body, mind, and breath.
Over the years, I noticed how much tension we hold in the face – tight jaws, stiff necks, sore eyes, dull headaches and how this affects not just how we look, but how we feel. It felt natural to explore face yoga, awakening the muscles of the face and neck and restoring energy to areas we often neglect.
When I began practising face yoga regularly, the changes were subtle but undeniable. My headaches and eye strain eased, my skin looked brighter, no more puffiness around the eyes and I became more aware of where I held tension. It wasn’t just about appearance; it was a daily practice that supported my overall vitality.
That’s why I trained professionally. Becoming fully qualified gave me the knowledge and confidence to guide others safely while deepening my own practice. Face yoga strengthens facial muscles, improves circulation, supports posture, and helps prevent the little ailments that build up over time.
At 56, I can honestly say it has become a cornerstone of my longevity routine. Amongst my friends, I am one of the few who still doesn’t need reading glasses – a fact I truly believe is thanks to my daily face yoga practice.
Face yoga is more than lifting or toning. It’s a joyful, simple ritual that keeps me alert, relaxed, and vibrant, inside and out.
